Easter is a feel-good holiday for me, I don’t know if it’s the pastel colors, chocolate or the fact that spring is around the corner, maybe it’s all of the above. Easter and spring go hand in hand as well as spring and spring cleaning. After a long winter, before the warm breezes, flip flops and picnics at the park, a good deep clean of my house is essential. My spring cleaning consists of pulling out furniture and cleaning behind it, taking my couches apart and vacuuming under the cushions, wiping down the items on top of my kitchen cupboards, lifting my mattress and cleaning behind that as well as a good purge of all the things I have collected over winter. I do this deep clean over a week or two because let’s be real I don’t have the time or energy to accomplish it all in one day. After I finish all the cleaning, then I get to do the fun stuff like decorate for Spring/Easter.
Over the winter, a lot of dust and crud can accumulate around my house behind furniture and so I like to take everything out of an area and clean and place it all back after cleaning out all those nooks and crannies. Here, I cleared out my front room and you’ll see my before and after. It wasn’t too bad, but I do like to keep up on it.
Next, I moved onto my bedroom. It was very dusty behind my bed and of course things fall behind, so it’s the perfect time for me to get it all taken care of.
I don’t know about you, but a clean house is so satisfying to me. I try to always use products in my home that are safe for my family as well as my dog. One of my favorite brands to use is Method, they have a wide range of products and they smell amazing.
Another area of our “house” that needs a cleaning is our attached garage. It becomes a catch all in the colder months and by this time of year I am tired of tripping over shoes that collect at the door to the house and the bags of bottles that need to be taken to the bottle depot. After a good wipe and reorganization of the space, we do a quick sweep and its “so fresh and so clean clean” as Outkast would say.
Changing up my décor between the winter and spring season is a must for me. I take out some of the darker, cozy items and replace them with pops of color and lots of faux or fresh plants to add some life to the room. I will try to purchase a nice floral bouquet here and there for our dining room table. If you are lucky enough to have a handy spouse like I do, you can convince them to build a cute coffee table to complete your living room <3.
What is on your spring cleaning list? or do you just hire this task out?
